treating the assholes

Good people change easily, bad people change with difficulty, and assholes never change.

…A good person can become bad relatively easily because, in every person, even the kindest, evil exists within them from the time of original sin, and thus they are inclined toward evil…
A bad person rarely becomes good…
Because they have become corrupted in the meantime, and it’s like trying to make a rotten tomato fresh again. The process of cleansing psychological and spiritual abnormalities, whether through psychology or religion, generally yields poor results, and when it does work, the effects don’t last long.
This is why, in religious life, many try, but few become saints.
“Assholes” are the most difficult case.
By saying “assholes,” I don’t mean it literally, of course, but metaphorically:
I mean those who are foolish, stubborn, self-centered, and narrow-minded.
I’ve stopped hoping that these types can change, and so when I meet one, I don’t try to change them.
I simply accept them as a natural disaster, like hail, rain, an earthquake, or a flood.
